LOCAL, FRESH, SEASONAL PRODUCE
Coltman's can be found in one of the town's most historic buildings,
with the restaurant itself dating back as far as 1711. It is a warm,
inviting room, where you can (as we say in Scotland) ‘coorie in’
beside a real log fire in the winter months!
With views over the River Tweed to the beautiful Peeblesshire countryside beyond, it is the perfect setting in which to relax and enjoy fabulous food, freshly prepared with passion and imagination by our Head chef, Kenny Coltman. Using locally sourced, fresh Scottish produce whenever possible, our menu respects the seasons - as it always should. In spring and
summer you can enjoy dishes including fresh asparagus, simply blanched and served with Hollandiase, or hand dived Scottish scallops with fresh pea puree. In winter, game and our own dry-aged Scotch beef take centre stage. We make the best of all the ingredients our wonderful country has to offer and look forward to sharing them with you soon.
The philosophy behind my cooking is based on fresh seasonal produce cooked simply, without fuss. I am absolutely passionate about using fresh seasonal produce that is both affordable and tastes fantastic. If I can get this produce from local farmers and growers, so much the better. Whether it is a simple, single savoury tart or a dish of seared scallops with fresh pea puree, both deserve - and get - the same attention to detail.
At Coltman's we have many year's experience of catering for outside events, and can offer bespoke chef services to both private and corporate clients throughout Scotland. Our Head Chef Kenny Coltman will work with you to devise the perfect menu for your event - we are happy to do all the hard work, allowing you to relax,in the peace of mind that the catering will be perfect for the occasion, allowing you to concentrate on enjoying the
special day you have worked so hard on planning. Coltman's can provide anything from a romantic picnic for two, to a freshly prepared hot or cold buffet for 200. We are perfectly at ease with both.
